Congratulations to Dr. Jorge Matuk as the 2026 recipient of the Dr. Sam Mendicino Lifetime Achievement Award. He was presented the award by 2024 recipient Dr. Al Ng, at the Greater Texas Education Foundation Conference and Graduation for the HCA West & Kingwood Houston Residency programs.

Dr. Matuk is an alumnus of the Kingwood Medical Center Podiatric Surgical Residency Program (currently HCA Kingwood Houston). He is the current Residency Director of the HCA Kingwood Podiatric Surgical Residency Program and the Greater Texas Education Foundation. Dr. Matuk graduated with an M.D. from Cartagena University, School of Medicine in Colombia, South America, and he received his Orthopedic Degree in Sao Paulo, Brazil in 1993. He received his D.P.M. degree from Barry University School of Podiatry in Miami, FL.

Dr. Matuk is a Board Certified Foot and Ankle Surgeon by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and a Diplomate of the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. He is also a long-time member of the American Podiatric Medical Association and the Texas Podiatric Medical Association. As part of Podiatry Associates of Houston, his practice includes forefoot reconstruction, trauma and complex wound care treating patients at five Houston area offices, as well as directing and teaching podiatry residents.

Dr. Matuk’s passion is educating future practitioners and using his over 30 years of formative training background both internationally and domestically, to keep on the cutting edge of new technology and research. Dr. Sam Mendicino was one of his most influential mentors, and he is honored to be the 2026 recipient of this award.
